hello everyone

I stumbled upon this stuff and was wondering if anyone has used this on their cruiser?
Scotchgard? Paint Protection Film Solutions

found this vid of it being applied on a cruiser in South Aftica.
I was wondering how well this stuff would hold up on a fj40 with all the little cutouts for vents and such. This seems like a cheap way to protect your paint.

This is where i found out about the material

and this is the company he referenced

I don't have any on my Cruisers, but have installed that stuff on my Dodge pickup and old Tacoma, the stuff works well, I have no paint chips where the film is. It can be a real pain to apply on tight radiuses and or corners, it's worth using water and a squeegie to get it applied smoothly. You buy sheets of the stuff, I think the supplier went by the name clear guard, you can cut the stuff to fit what ever rig you want.

FYI,

I own a company that installs the 3M paint protection film for about a dozen dealerships if you have any questions. To stave off some of them, it's tough to install smoothly yourself and I recommend you find a local installer for your own vehicle. It's not cheap installed.

Whats the chance of getting a hood piece cut to the dimensions of say the front 12" of an 80 hood? I'm the guy that has to put the Bestskinz and Invisible Shield on all my buddies electronic devices after they F-up on their first try, it might be something I could pull off if it's similar material.

CJ,

No problem - PM me and I'll set you up with a long enough piece to do that. You'll trim the edges on the truck so you'll have excess to pull it tight, move it, etc. The 80 hood edge is relatively featureless and easy so if you've run a squeegee (heh) you'll have a fighting chance at doing a nice job. I sent out a number of headlamp kits that were precut and everybody was happy. Those are much easier - again flat and featureless. Let me know.
