I have ppg OMNI "MAE" type paint; uses a hardner at 4:1,

"dust dry" in 10 minutes.

If i go 'just' a tad lean, the paint will take a tad longer to dry ?
Yes ? No ?

Or does it not 'dry in the gun' in 10 minutes ?

That's my concern: I mix & put in sprayer,,,,'tune sprayer' ( I'm new at that), few practice passes on 'scrap' , think about what I did, maybe a few more practice passes...now ready to go live & pflibt, the paint has firmed in the gun...

Maybe this won't happen,,,,but that's why I'm thinking of going a tad lean on the hardener

( I remember when I was learning to mix body filler,,,,tad too much hardener & the stuff turns to firm paste while still mixing....seems like a tad lean on hardner just causes the filler to take longer to get real hard....)

Thanks for any insight,

pete

I used the same paint on my cruiser and I think it says the pot life is 2 hours. The mix is 4 to 1 and I don't think I would mess with the mix because the paint won't get as hard.

OK, I won't mess with the mix.

Pot life of an hour ( Toyo says 2 hr) is fine . . .all the time I nedd.

Thanks to all . . .

Read the can label,,, other than 'brand name, all words are warnings of death & distruction by breathing fumes, etc...in 3 languages...
and one little panel of 'symbols' for blending 4:1 or 8:1:1 depending on what you're using....
But I feel more comfortable because of y'alls input.

Thanks

You better be sporting some pics our way then.
