Update and recommendation for Alex @katzalex and Nola Motorcars.

I ended up Dr Colorchipping the 1/8” paint crack. However, I went out today to run an errand and when I went to fill up at the gas station, I noticed this deep scratch:

Remembering this thread and @nolamule ‘s recommendation, I ran over to Nola Motorcars. Alex sent me right over to the detailer and it was cleaned up in 5 min. It’s a deep scratch with metal exposed.

Will head back next week and let their paint guy look at it to see if he can do anything with it.

Sucks to buy your dream car and have things like this when she’s only 6 months young. Best guess is lawn crew or truck diving by with something sticking out the bed. Feels like you can’t have nice things when no matter how well you care for your car, you’re still at the mercy of others.

Bottom line is the folks at Nola Motorcars dropped what they’re doing to try to help me out. Good people there and will recommend.

This is the sad reality about ownership of almost anything but especially nice or coveted automobiles. No one else cares about your car and some may even target it over envy. Valet only parking, that’s a “NO” for me. Repair work, I’ll vet that shop as if they are marrying my child. “Can I borrow your ride to go to the store?”, ask this and get met with the “are you crazy” look. I’ll drive around a parking lot until I find the most out of the way spot against a curb and my wife won’t bat an eyelash because the wait and long walk are better than my reaction to some idiot opening their door into my vehicle.
The struggle is real!

Just an observation. Looks like the gas nozzle might of hit it while filling up? I would not paint it. Factory paint is best. Dr colorchip will definitely clean it up nice. Might take a few attempts to get it right.Defintly sucks!!

There was a line all the way down the side of the car, fortunately one other spot was only the clear coat and the rest could be wiped off by hand.

irony of it is that we’re having the house painted, so I moved my car into the street to avoid the painters accidentally hitting it with their ladders or tools. Can’t win 😂. Living in the suburbs with lots of space had its benefits.

My best guess is the lawn crew. I heard the mower start up and by the time I moved my car the only strip they had cut was right next to my car and it’s perfect height for a push mower handle.
