I got word from some Land Rover buddies in Austin that they have a group going to Padre Island National Seashore the Friday through Sunday after Thanksgiving.

I'm thinking about going down Friday or Saturday with my daughter for either the day or one night. I wanted to gauge interest before I made a commitment.

BTW: There will be families and kids so if you're opposed to any of those, you probably won't want to go - Family atmosphere. I.E. - No late night crazy partying and appropriate language.

Anyone interested?

Sounds like fun. The wife already has plans established being that her parents will be in town. We'll being doing the Dickens event in Boerne one night and we have special passes to the River Walk lighting event. I hope it isn't cold.

I still haven't actually been into the National Seashore park. :hmm:

Sounds fun! I will be in Dallas until Saturday I think. If I come home early I might make it.

this sounds like fun Brett. I'll check with the wife about it.

I'll post more info when I get back from San Francisco tomorrow. I'm still not sure if it will be a day trip or a one nighter for me. I'm glad to see the interest!

looks like I am out. All the wife has read is sand. Everywhere is sand. Sand in your tent, your shoes, butt - everywhere. She is not keen on that idea, especially with the baby.

There is some truth to that; however, this is the only time of the year that it's not that bad. Camping on the beach is tolerable in November and the sand doesn't stick to you as much.

You could always stay at the State Park, off the beach and drive down during the day. Or, you can get a cheap motel in Corpus and drive down for the day.

Put none-stick cooking spray oil under the truck..

Would be a lot cheaper than that Fluid film or cosmoline..at least it your truck would smell delicious:meh:

Nope...son coming in for the holidays...going to have our first Thanksgiving in our new home.
Have fun guys!

We'll need to watch the weather today closely. At this point, there's a good chance of rain on the coast this weekend so that may put a damper on things. I'll post what we're going to do by this evening. If it looks like rain, I'll probably skip and go another weekend.

OK everyone, I'm out for this weekend. Not because of any weather issues but because several trim pieces aren't in from Lexus and while I have my truck back from the body shop, I can't take it to the beach. The bumper needs tweaking and readjustment too and I can't bring it back with sand all over it because it can't washed yet due to the fresh paint. Either way, it would be a bad decision to take it to the coast and expose it to sand and salt.

So, that being said, there may be others going so post if you still intend on making it. If you're going to be in town this weekend, I may work on my tire mounting solution and I'll post an invite if I can get everything squared away with the body shop in time to do it.
