Years ago, truck showed an SAIS failure and put the truck in limp mode. I went with a highly regarded bypass kit. Fast forward a bit, I had to remove the intake to fix the coolant leak under there. I replaced the pumps with an amazon cheap replacement, swapped the pumps and left the toyota block of aluminum. It lasted less than a year, I put the bypass back on. Eventually I started getting MAF CEL, P0172, P0175, P0101 and replaced the bypass with new. Well, it started throwing the MAF CEL's, replaced MAF from amayama, CEL continues, so I removed the bypass. Now I'm back to P2441 on every few startups, which I didn't think was expected, it's 70-80 degrees, no MAF CEL with bypass removed.

I'm contemplating replacing the pumps with amayama parts, but curious of other troubleshooting I should be doing. I find it questionable two bypass's have gone bad on me.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

I installed the Hewitt kit in my past cruiser. They were very specific that the kit may not work with aftermarket replacement SAIS parts, and I suspect that may be your issue.

Were there any issues with the kit until you replaced the pumps?

Thank you! That sounds about right. I bought the bypass when the original failed and did not keep their warning in mind when I replaced the sais later.

We've had some cold days where I would expect the SAIS to try to function and I have NOT had any CEL's since. Any chance the cycle attempts got the valve to open and close?
