Typing this from my iPad, so I’ll make it short, but if someone gets that code, here’s what I found....
I was tinkering with my dash - I wanted to see how the bulbs work because my “D” light is burned out. Started to disassemble it then ran out of time. Pushed the cluster back in and came in for dinner
About an hour later I took the truck for a drive and had the symptoms I noted above. Really odd. I had just changed the fuel filter so I was guessing that maybe it? No codes either.
I went home and double checked the fuel filter. Started it up and got a CEL. Pulled the code and saw that P1780 is related to park/neutral safety switch malfunction. That’s odd
I found this video (I only watched part of it)
.
I had similar behavior with my dash lights too
I figured I must not have reinstalled the cluster properly. Sure enough, I didn’t snap he cluster into the 2 electrical connectors in the bottom corners. I carefully pulled the cluster out, fit it back in and cleared the codes
Seemed to work so far. Strange stuff. Hopefully it helps someone in the future if they get the same code or strange dash light behavior
