Got this yesterday...cleared the code. Back today.

Shift solenoid E; No info online pertaining to 100's directly. Truck goes about as it always did, which is to say that without the dash CEL, no indication of abnormal behavior.

TIA and Merry Christmas

Ever find a fix for your light? Mine is doing the same thing?

The trans had to be dropped to repair the harness internally as I recall, unfortunately.

The diagnostic and repair procedures are in the FSM. The attachment is from the 2000 LX470 manual, but would apply to all 1998-2002 models.

The first step is to verify the ECM is good. If that checks out, the next step is to drop the oil pan and check both the solenoid valve (Solenoid E is the lock up solenoid) and the pigtail. There is no need to drop the entire transmission, just the pan. The procedure for this is also in the FSM. There are copies for both the Land Cruiser and LX470 in the Resources section.

Thanks for this. I will do some checking and report back!

Thinking back, it was the pan and not the trans. The harness was found to have a dead pin in the connector to that solenoid. I had the harness replaced with a new one, but I suppose if you were enterprising/skilled, the pin could have likely been replaced on the harness plug...
