Hey guys, did a search and came up dry. I have been driving the LC around and she started throwing a couple of codes. One was P0135, for an O2 sensor (bank 1 sensor 1) so I replaced that sensor and the code has not returned. The next is P0450 for the Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Malfunction. I threw a gas cap on it hoping (praying) that the problem would be fixed, but knowing it would do nothing... anyway, I was correct and the code returned very shortly after.

I just printed out some of the FSM and am heading out to the garage to look around but I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue with this code. I see there are multiple VSV valves and a pressure sensor as well. If I do not find any cracked lines, I may just order the pressure sensor.

Any help is appreciated!

Couple questions....

Do you ever smell fuel/see vapor from the gas cap? Was it hot the day you threw the code? If so, it could be the charcoal canister. It wouldn't be the first time. Its never a good idea to fill the 100 all the way up, then add a squeeze more from the gas pump. If you've ever done that, that may be the issue. Seems like that is where the problems start, especially if you go off road after that. A full tank sloshing around overwhelms the system and ruins the charcoal canister.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been messing with this thing and haven't gotten back here.

No I did not have any fuel vapors, that I could smell, I did replace the gas cap for the heck of it, the code came right back. I ended up ordering a new evap emissions pressure sensor ($200+ yucky), and it came on again last night (JUST after a fill up and right after I replaced the sensor.) I picked up an OBDII scanner tonight in the hopes of fixing this thing, after clearing it, all the OBDII codes show ready but that one (evap system), so I am going to put a few miles on it and see if I can either get it to come back or to test ready.

I checked the valve on top of the charcoal canister (SvS?), pulled it off and tested it and it is good to go. The fix for that was detailed in another MUD post and linked from here

Anyway, I really hope it goes away and stays, if it comes back I guess I will be looking at a canister... or some sort of workaround for that...

Thanks,

Micah

I believe there is more than one VSV. In my 04, there's one by the charcoal canister in the back and one up front under the hood.

Does your 04' have a charcoal canister under the hood? That is where mine is, but if there is another VsV does anyone have a diagram or picture of the location?
I was underneath her earlier and I did not see another box near the tank.

My canister is near where the spare would be. They moved it there in 03 I think. So, the system is probably different that yours.
