I have a 2011 Land Cruiser with 350,000+ miles on the original drivetrain. About a year and a half ago I did some maintenance on the vehicle and decided to clean the manifold sensor and in the process of doing so accidentally covered the sensor in the cleaner. Ever since then I have gotten the same P0430 and P0420 codes on my rig turning on and off randomly. They mostly stay on now all the time.

I have cleaned the sensor a few times and the codes disappeared, but eventually come back. I’m just sick of seeing these things on my cruiser. Anyone else done something similar or are my cats really just toast at this point?

Also, with such high mileage on my vehicle I have to add between 2 to 3 quarts of oil between the 10,000 mile oil changes,. I know, it’s a lot.

Have you ever changed out the pcv valve. It is less than $10. That might fix the oil consumption.

Good question, I replaced it and the upper hoses when I was cleaning the maf sensor.

There are not visible external leaks. All loss is internal. It me also burning coolant but at a much slower rate than the oil.

I have not. I’m not too concerned about the coolant leak though.

I did a 2000 mile trip. CLeaned MAF sensor, did both filters, and PCV valve, now have the dreaded 0430 code :(
