I have read here on Mud that you can use P.O.R.-15 for there vehicles. Do I have to do anything special before I use it on my frame. I have just surface rust on my frame. Can I use it on body parts too? I have a couple of perforated areas and if I use it will it stop the rust and I can paint over it? Thanks
Try an advanced search within the paint section. I think you should be okay using it on both, but the prep is the key to any anti-rust paint working well.
They have very good instructions on the POR-15 website. You use there products and it's all good.
I literally used POR-15 on my entire truck on all panels. I sandblasted with glass and painted with POR. Then did all the top coats. The frame is the worst to paint, as your lying under there getting dripped on. UUUGH
I started out using POR-15. It will stick great to rusted metal but does not hold on to previously painted stuff. Now, I am using Rust Bullet. Much more user friendly. Perhaps in the long run I will regret it, but for now, it seems that Rust Bullet sticks to bare or rusted metal just as well as POR-15 and it certainly sticks to scuffed paint better. What I hated about POR 15 was the 3-step process (etch, cleaner, and paint). Both are expensive. One other good thing about Rust Bullet is that they sell a "six shooter" which is a package of 6 little cans. Great for dealing with multiple little jobs.
POR-15 has a six small can deal as well. I like it and have used it in the past as well as now. The only thing I wish was that it was available in rattle cans to avoid the mess when painting the frame.
