Looks like fun...

What was fun was when I thought a 80 would make a good tow vehicle lol

I think there are some "adjustments" to be made, either shortning or extending the frame--can't remember which cause I do not own an 80. In the long run it will be worth it--to have the ride of the 80 in a classic looking 50...

Man. The 55 series has got to be the most brutalized non-OEM painted of all Cruisers. I just looked through this thread. Some awesome. Some scary. Some sad.

Second was an 8000 mile truck that came off a ranch. "Wilbur"'is being lovingly cared for in Canada now

I forgot Wilbur was with you for a while...

That looks really nice. Good find

Yikes! that paint is pretty.....unique. going back to blue and white will be a stunner. careful with the rear quarter glass - you have the original since the chrome trim is still in place. Replacement is expensive and the quality is so-so (color fade). Take some more pics and include under the hood. looks like a great find. Congrats!

I agree, don't like the paint colors at all. I saw it for sale a while ago but price was too high and colors were ugly so I passed it by. Then sold my HJ and got to thinking about a 55 again. I've always wanted one so I went and checked it out and we worked out a decent price. I bought this from the original owners. I have the window sticker and some of the original dealer docs. Its really quite complete from what I can tell and runs great. Thanks for the tip on the rubber - yes I planned to do whatever I can to keep the existing rubber around the windows. It's pretty old, but still pretty solid. I'll have to start a thread with more pics and hopefully to keep track of my progress working on it.

I checked that out over the 4th of July, it was parked next to our friends property we were camping on in McCall. Looked decent mechanically, but the upholstery and paint are fugly. What's up with the crack in the roof paint?

You going to keep the internal cage? I agree, he was asking way too much initially.

Good luck with the build and congrats.

Hello to all Newbie Here

Hi to all. My name is Brock Long, i'm located in Rolla, MO. I just drove my new purchase back from South Dokota. It was a 640 mile trip. Record lows and no heat, burrr

1973 1F 3spd on floor mostly original

I drove it 55 the whole way home, for good luck. This is my second pig, i sold the first one a few years back, i believe its in Nebraska somewhere now. New rig will most likely be a road/offroad combo, i don't plan on keeping it oem, just enough for both.

Anyways all is original(down to the rust) except for the rims and tires. Sure am glad we have a place like mud to fill in our blanks. Let me know if anyone out there is close to Rolla, it would be interesting to know if i have missed your rigs out on the road. I put some pics in here, two of the new ride and one of the old.

Nice to meet everyone.
Hey partner, I'm in Waynesville (actually Buckhorn). If you come down the 44 you can't miss my location--I'm in an old Gas Station right beside the Lion's Den (Porn Place). I've just recently brought my FJ56 up here from KY, and would love to get together with some LandCruiser people from this area. S/F, Spark..

With all the Land Cruisers I own and have owned I never had an Iron Pig- I until now. Glad to join the club.

This one has been known for about 13 years- recused from the Mrs Bairds bread company farm. I know little about the unique details and parts - but know this community will help me along the way.

Damn, that's a nice one. By the look of your sig. lines, you buy and sell a lot. What's the plan for the 55?

Thanks for the kudos- It's a keeper...personal collection.

Hey Guys, I've been lurking here for the last few days. Long Story short, I've been a 4Runner guy for 20 years owning various T4Rs but always lusting after Land Cruisers. My Girlfriend sees me looking at old 60 and 80 series LCs online and - very long story short - I come home to a surprise 40th birthday gift of a 1975 (ahem possibly 1977) FJ55 in my driveway.

Sure it's not necessarily the model, color or year I'd choose for my first vintage LC, but she loves it and I'm pretty excited about learning to upgrade and work on this project.

Im sure you'll see me posting a lot of questions in other threads, but right now I'm finding most everything I need to know just by searching previous posts and trying to be that newbie asking questions which have already been answered at length.

Also - I know enough about this place and the regular people selling and reselling these FJ55s to know someone may know some info about this one and if they do, please DM me.

Looking forward to learning from you all.

-Mark
