I think four of us are planning on attending the 2013 Overland Expo; Doug, Jonathan, Hugh and myself. A few meetings back we discussed doing a DED run (dirt every day) to Mormon Lake and wanted to get this out to start planning the trip. Is anyone else planning on attending either the DED or just the Expo? In order to get in the dirt road portion we would probably leave here on the 14th or 15th.

Probably discuss this at tonight's meeting. Please think about how we might accomplish the dirt road sections. Particularly concerned on how we might cross the reservation on dirt.

Hugh tells us we need permits to cross the rez on dirt so were skipping that. Also no one is committed to going except Doug and I, so I guess we'll just wing it, possibly connecting up some dirt roads between Flag and OEX. Afterwards we have a short time to get up to Cedar City, UT to join a group "met" on Expo for a long ghost town trip through Nevada.

Damn I am on-call that weekend but I would love to go. Anyone have a seat open I could bum a ride with? I'm in the middle of a couple projects on the FJ and don't really want to drive it down, but if I can catch a ride I might see if I can find someone to cover my shift for me.

You could ride down with me but I won't be heading back for about 10 days. Off to Nevada for a ghost town exploration trip after OEX.

Heading down to OEX as soon as my trailer sale is competed. This is my Escape 17, not my ORT. Auto-home is delivering my new Columbus hard shell RTT there so I will be in camping heaven there and during our nine day expedition through Nevada ghost towns. Doug is going to OEX and Nevada too.

Took the long way home in reverse and some of those roads were terribly rutted since we did it going east. But at least it was dry.

Camped with Doug last night in VOG (photo). Now in Flag were the wind is fierce. Praying my RTT is here at OEX as promised. Don't want to tent camp in this wind.

RTT was here and nicely mounted by the guys from Auto-home. OEX is filing up fast.

Was Earthroamer there? Drive by their factory a few times this weekend and was surprised to see 8-10 trucks out front.

Yes they were, their space was on the other side of the road where we were set up at. I drooled on the Earthroamer alot, I want one really really bad. One of the owners took his out on the driving course, I was impressed with how well it handled it.

It was another great Expo, met a ton of fun people as always and a couple who will be future adventure/wheeling/camping buddies (the fact that they both have '08 FJC Trail Teams is a bonus!) and meeting up with old friends make this a not to be missed event. This year I just did the day passes instead of the experience package which with the camping (4 nights) cost a grand total of $40 a heck of a bargain I must say. I watched about 6 demos and spent quite a bit of time checking out the vendors as well as watched the Camel Trophy guys do some bridge building. I did see Hugh and Kelli as they were leaving on Sunday in the Troopy, sounded like they had a good time as well.
