outer birfield seal

I was repacking Birfield's this weekend, and need to know if the lip on the outer seal goes to inside or out towards hub?

The same way it came out! If I understand what you're referring to, the answer is "In".

i think part 35 its the seal that goes in the back of the rotor, there are 2 seals one [small] in the axle, and the larger one with the large wheel bearing the seal has a rised lip on one side, does that lip face in towards the bearing?

Look behind the lip for a spring. The spring goes in towards the grease...

What Nick said...and also if it helps...you'll use a hammer to set the seal in place (be gentle)...you will hammer on the metal side.
