So, whatcha guys using? What brands and size?I'm looking to heat a 1600 sft. house and keep the chill off in a 30x40 pole barn(not yet built).Maybe a little bit bigger barn. How much wood do you go threw in a winter?Any other advise...

I've installed one of these for a customer and have serviced another one. They are well made and work great.
Central Boiler - Outdoor Furnaces - Wood Stoves

We trenched to 3 buildings and it heats them fine. The one I installed had a gas gun back up for freeze protection and would light the wood fire too.

If you have room inside I'd recommend a Wood Gun. Outdoor furnaces, woodstoves and heating from Heatall, Inc.
By far the nicest and most efficient wood boiler I've ever worked on.

Depending on the barn constuction and how you are heating it (radiant, baseboard, radiators) your going to only need around 150000 btus at most.

My 30x40 barn with radiant in a 6" slab on 2"of foam only needs about 35,000 btus

Thank you.

anybody else?

My buddy put one in to heat his 2 family house his single family house and his shop he burns about 12 cords of wood a year for all of the property on the same lot, He lined the inside with some kind of fire brick tiles this year to increase the efficiency of the furnace. He does not buy oil anymore.

got friends up here in b.c that have the boiler style, i know one thing they burn a s**t load of wood :frown: they have to buy firewood by the logging truck load... but no more natural gas bills

anyone else put one in recently? we are getting ready to build a house and I've been looking through them...it seems like the central boiler has some really good benefits as does the hardy....

I want to heat the house with a coil and then do hydronic in-slab in the 3 car garage....

ideas?

I just installed a second Central Boiler and I'm about to do a third. New boiler was a E-Classic which is a down draft design. I only wish they ran at pressure. Right know you either run the heating system at 0 psi or use a plate exchanger.

Heated the house with boiler coil and will run a loop to heat the pool in the future.
