71 toy hilux question
stock 18rc motor:eek:
starts fine, when its cold its ok too, but when it warms up it races (runs fast) is this a carb issue? if so which screw?
on occasion it will die when cold but not recently.
Help please
Kyle
ps sorry I know this is 79-95 but its still a toyota:p

when the choke is closed, when its cold, the engine should be at a higher idle. say 1200.

when the coolant temp is at normal operating temp 180-190, you should be able to punch the throttle and kick the idle down.

if it does not kick down. make sure the linkage is operating. if its a electric or coolant thermo choke, both adjust the same way. loosen the 3 screws and tun it so it closes all the way. make sure it opens and closes with out binding.

the 3 screws that hold the choke? I am carb ignorant but eger to learn.... its not kickin down. so we'll make sure its not binding
thanks

If it's fine when it's cold, with no input(pat twice to choke), and it races when it's warm. To me, that sounds like an air/ vac leak. Or something that's making it get too much gas.

possible. I will check it out
thanks
