model: P-HJ61V-PEMZX serial: HJ61-12386 - Extremely rare 4WD, AT, 6 Cyl. w/ factory Toyota 4.0 Turbo Direct Injected diesel (looks like what a A-series Cummins should have). Other Features include: 4 spd Automatic Transmission (industrial grade Hino type), Running Boards, Power Locks, Power Windows, Power Steering, Power Brakes (brakes are in good condition), Full-Floating Heavy Duty rear end (four bearing not two), Power Moon/Roof, Air Conditioning (works flawlessly and yes it blows cold), original Recaro Style seats w/ Lumbar Support (drivers Side), new Costco BF Goodrich T/A's, window guards in rear cargo area. Body is clean, straight & rust free with some minor scratches/wear. Interior; drivers seat just starting to show the typical wear on the lower cushion that Toyota's are known for. It has been maintained by a local diesel mechanic. RHD, originally from Japan, STEREO converted to North American type; powered off very efficient 24V/12VDC Solar Converter. Odometer/trip read in miles, MPH/kilometers ON DIAL. MILEAGE approx. 153,000. Currently registered and licensed in Oregon to me. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE

Where do I start? Well, to be serious I don't really want to sell this so if response is limited I will pull it and store it until I have the time to work on it.

1981 BJ44, 4 cyl diesel, 4 speed, right hand drive, legally imported and registered in Oregon. This rig was purchased at auction in Japan, shipped to Vancouver BC, and then brought down to Oregon via a customs broker in Sumas Washington in the Fall of 2007. Currently the odometer shows 39,090 Km, or approximately 24,289 miles. If you are not familiar with Landcruisers the BJ44 is approximately 18" longer than the prevalent FJ40s that were brought into the states. Toyota never imported the longer wheel base 40 series cruisers, nor did they import any diesel rigs either. I have seen very few of these for sale or on the 4x4 forums so it is a rare find indeed.

Since I have had it I have done the following:

Replaced all fluids

Rebuilt front end

Replaced motor mounts

New custom springs, bushings, and shocks

New wheels and tires - 33x12.5 R15 MT

Rebuild front steering box

Rebuild injectors

Replace fuel lines with SS

Install 60 Amp 24v to 13.8v converter

Roundeye conversion headlamps

New Les Schwab HD batteries

other misc items

All work has been performed by Land Cruiser Northwest

Now for the bad - there is rust that needs to be dealt with. The bottom of the rear doors are the worst in addition to other areas that need attention. I have tried to be as honest as I can with the pictures. For me to keep this rig what I really need is a large garage and time to take it apart to replace or repair the rust - both things I don't currently have.

The bottom line is that this is mechanically a solid cruiser that needs some cosmetic loving. I recently purchased a nice FJ62 which is a great rig, but does not get the same response as driving the 44. I also have a pending basement remodel so unfortunately it is low on the list.

Take a look and then let me know if you interested in seeing it in person.

Cheers!
