I just ordered the 4.88's from precision along with the master install kits which include pinion bearings and Carrier bearings, cork seals, shims, etc. Not sure if it makes a difference but my cruiser is locked. Will I need anything else to complete this install? I am asking in advance becuase the install will take place in Mexico and it is hard to source parts down here.

Been there, done that. The Precision install kit has the wrong rear carrier bearings for the 80 series. The Pinion Bearings are correct and the front bearing kit is correct. The 80 series trucks share the rear carrier bearings with the V6 Tacoma. They are not the same as the traditional Land Cruiser carrier bearings which are larger. Also, the generic pinion seals in that kit are not that great and I would get real Toyota ones. CDan can hook you up and he's just accross the border. If I were doing it again, I would get the R&P from Precision, and everything else from Toyota.
Agree with that 100%. Mine gears are 100% Toyota, but I've seen precision gears set up and thankfully we knew ahead of time to get all the bits, shims etc from Toyota.

I too agree, the rear carrier bearings are the wrong bearing in Precisions kit. I had my 4.88's at the local shop ready for the install and found out that the bearings were wrong. I ended up purchasing the correct bearings locally after cross referencing the number on the stock bearings. Precision did make good on the incorrect bearings, it was just a pain in the arse..... Buy Toyota pinion seal and Toyota Crush sleeve. I don't know if it makes a difference but, the crush sleeve in the Precision kit is seemed and much thinnner than the stock Toyota. Hope all this helps.
