What are my options of either acquiring a cut and turned axle housing for an SOA FJ40, or having someone locally do that work on my existing housing? Does Marlin Crawler do that kind of thing?
I knew that with SOA and no cut and turn the front drive line angle would be bad, but I've just discovered its VERY bad. Sitting static the u-joint at the T-case is at its limit, so I will just leave the front drive-line out for now.
History is; this thing is SOA, had add-a-leafs, AND 1 1/2" lift shackles. There were 4 degree shims in to fix the pinion angle, which of course wrecked the caster. I've removed the add-a-leafs, installed stock shackles, and removed the shims. The Cruiser is sitting a touch higher in front, perhaps I should have removed that additional leaf I was thinking about doing. Of course the entire front cowl is not on it at the moment, neither is the winch. That additional weight might bring it back to level.
I was planning on getting a cut and turn, along with installing disc brakes done relatively soon, along with all the associated "stuff" that would need to be changed. I might even need to look at other options for a front driveline, double cardan joint perhaps?
Looks like all that will be happening sooner rather than later.
Thanks.
