In the last week, I have had enough conversations about transmissions to last a lifetime. I have made tons of phone calls and scoured Mud and the rest of the interweb for hours. The consensus has been to replace my burnt tranny with a used one, rather than have it rebuilt. Here are a few options and I would love any input:

A. Cruiserparts.net has one for $1000, delivered and a year warranty. My concern is that I've seen some reviews that complain about poor customer service and lengthy shipping issues. I guess I could go to NH and pick it up and that would add to the cost, but my accountant lives close, so I could write off the trip as a business expense.

B. Brandywine Truck Parts in MD has one for $750 delivered and 101 day warranty. Online reviews seem to be positive and the guy that I talked to seemed solid.

C. Deals on Wheels in Zebulon has one for $650 that I can go pick up, but the truck had 300k miles on it and they aren't sure if it is the original transmission.

There are a few other options, but they would require going to the Chesapeake area to visually inspect them.

Thoughts?

Might want to check with Fred Anderson. The ONSC deal seems pretty good from the price Jerry got on his trans. I've not used them yet but will when there is a need for sure.

You may want to post a WTB ad here on Mud's Classifieds and see what you can find. There are a lot of semi-local posters that aren't visible to our Clubhouse.

The H55 is tempting, but I can't pull that trigger yet. I think Darrin has one that is spoken for. I'll keep pounding the pavement...

I hear you on the H55 want. I keep looking at the 1HZ input shafts to swap into a US H55.
