Hello, looking into an engine rebuild on a 1HD-FTE. Over the years I have seen a few recommendations for Engine Australia, particularly on parts for the 12HT. Does anybody have any experience good or otherwise with the company? They seem to have been around for quite a while so must be doing something right but some first hand opinions never hurt. The price of Toyota parts for the engine are un-justifiable.

Thanks,
Jason

I just rebuilt my 13BT last year with an Engines Australia kit. I used Alfin pistons. Overall it's a good kit, with Taiho (OEM toyota) bearings.
Some of the gaskets were not correct for my year of 13BT, along with the Cam Bearings. I had to get 14BT cam bearings to fit mine, not sure what the deal was with that.

Make sure to get an OEM MLS Toyota headgasket, don't even mess with the Engine Australia one.

Same for the intake gasket, get an OEM toyota one.

Engines Australia are a reputable company and I wouldn't hesitate to use a rebuild kit from them, however I would buy a genuine gasket kit, in my experience the genuine gaskets are far better than anything aftermarket

Thanks guys. The opinions seem pretty consistent, I got the same answer from my local distributor (good but use the Toyo gaskets) but it is nice to hear the same thing from someone who is not selling it.
