Hey Guys,

So heres the deal.

I ordered a S/C for my 94. I did alot of research before i ordered it, and came up with a couple of solutions regarding the issues the car might have with fuel management and stuff.

After talking to Christo Slee today, he insisted that its not a good idea to install it on my 94, even with the solutions I asked him about. I want the S/C to work with full potential, so the 94 isnt going to cut it.

So being me, i immediately started to look for a 95-97 truck, as I am being stubborn about having a supercharged 80.

What do you think my 80 is worth ? Its got 102k, white w/ grey leather, lockers. Car is in excellent condition, no rust. No accidents, everything works. CEL. Put new O2s, wires, cap, plugs, rotor. Brakes are new. Leather is in good condition. Drives straight

As far as the mods i put on are the Slee 4", metalteck sliders, snorkel, and KM2s. I can move everything except the snorkel to the new car.

I bought the car for 8k, 4 months back. What do you guys it will go for, being such low miles, and a clean socal car w/lockers ?

Harry

Sadly probably not much more than the 8k you paid but probably less unless you find a Mud type of person who will appreciate the PM. It is a buyers market right now on big SUVs and anything that is not pretty economical. If you find a white one you can swap the fender or swap with someone on the board who is getting a snorkel or to sell your snorkel instead of giving it away on an otherwise stock vehicle. Assuming you pull all of the other parts first. I would reccomend buying the new one first if at all you can. Find a white one and problems are solved. Good luck.

I think the snorkal will lower your resale. without the snorkal it is a cleen, straight suv with low Mi. with it you have modified 4x4. You have limited yourself to LC guys or people that want to 4x4. I would shoot for 8k if I were you.

Maybe I can try to sell it to a cruiserhead before I put it on the maket. I knew I should have waited to install the snorkel later, but i didnt. TRD did not help the situation by re releasing the s/c.

What are the issues with fuel management on the earlier models vs later models?

Any possibility of turbo charging your 94?

From what Ive been reading, the 93-94 air meters before the throttle body are not as capable when it comes to forced induction. The sensor at higher RPMs bottom out and the computer adjusts the fuel according to that sensor. As a result, lean conditions can occur at higher RPMs and thats not a good thing.

The 95-On have a newer style MAF which handles forced induction better. Plus with OBDII on these cars, I can moniter alot of data on the car with a scangauge at any given time.

My buddy has been running a S/C on his 93 with no apparent problems, but I think he does not know what is really going on, he only pays attention to the dummy WT gauge that does not work.

I have to agree with Mo on his assessment Harry. Sounds like you've got a great white '94 an I'm somewhat partial to that year and color! 102K on a socal truck 14 years old is fantastic and will help resale, but with gas where it is I humbly submit that you won't get more than $6K IF IF IF you are lucky.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the sliders wont work either. The 93/94 and 95/96/97 are different.

If you do decide to sell the sliders, I would like first dibs.

If you really want my opinion, I think you have a perfect Cruiser as it is. Low miles, socal, factory lockers, clean, straight, with a respectable amount of useful modification.

And you want to give that up for another Cruiser, that may not have your Cruiser's OEM pedigree (socal, low miles, lockers), so that you can go, what, marginally faster on the street? I hate to say this, but...your '94 is fast enough where it counts. The 1FZFE has enough torque and horses to get its prodigius mass through some serious obstacles. It's a cow on the highway, but sufficiently fast to achieve highway speed within a reasonable distance. I might see the appeal of a Cruiser with S/C for an initial buy, but to give up a Cruiser with the qualities of yours for....an unknown quantity, in a buyer's market, to buy a Cruiser of unknown quality...it seems foolish to me.

Sorry, but you asked for our .02, and that's mine. Keep your truck. You've only had it 4 months. How much wheeling and camping have you done in it? Give it some time, get to know it, let it do what it was bred to do.

Oh man, AND it's white? Pfffft! I didn't read that it was white. You're crazy to give that thing up.

Ya i know the sliders wont bolt on directly. My buddy with the 93 has his eyes on them, but if he falls through, you have first dibs

Your killin me man, now im not going to able to sleep.

Ill have a lot of time to think about it this weekend. Ill be dove hunting up in fresno, so in the middle of the day, Ill have plenty of thinking time.

One good thing going for me is that my 05 tundras lease is due in about a month which is my DD, so i might use one 80s for a DD and the other for fun car.

Actually, I believe they bolt on, but the difference is the cat guard. But yes, please let me know.

To be honest, I would just keep it. A SC requires premium fuel as well. A good LC is worth far more right now than the market will bear. Anyone that has to sell is going to get killed in this market. Just like the housing market. The only reason I am considering selling is because I intend to make it up on the other end by buying one at a killing.

Anyway, best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
