Going to look at this one this weekend, it is close by. It did not sell on ebay and it is pretty close, couple hours away from me. It needs nothing mechanically, just could use a tail pipe. It is a solid driver. Only rust is surface on the springs and what you see in the damage to the upper and lower gates. He is a Landcruiser lover and has maintained it very well for the last 11 years or so. It was his daily driver and he is the second owner. Tail lights could be replaced, needs rear dome light cover, passenger mirror and rear wiper. Everything works except the speedometer. He wants to get at least $3500. Not too many come this close to home for me. What do you guys think? See the link below.

Attached link...

The information is in the link attached in the original post. I did not point out the link and it looked like it was in my signature. It is the link to the ebay auction that is now over. it is a 1987 FJ60 w/ 170,000 miles. Burns no oil, does not smoke. Runs and drives great. Pictures in original post. Thanks for any advice.

i'd probably only pay 2k for that. if the exterior is in that kind of shape i wouldn't be surprised if the engine isn't as straight as he says. there are a lot of nice cruisers going for $3500 so i wouldn't settle for one since it is close. i think you'd regret it. that sear under the seat cover is torn-guaranteed, for as much rust as you can see there is always 10 times more that you can't. i'd hold out. i don't think it's worth $3500, but as with anything, it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. spend some time looking and you can find one close to you in better shape for the same money.

I`ve been looking at a lot of cruisers lately because now I know what I`m looking at and I love mine so much I want to see if I can find another one at a good price.
Most sellers figure if the truck rotted into two pieces its in excellent shape. Maybe they don`t really lie, but they don`t tell you everything they know about the truck`s condition. If replacing an alternator two years ago is their idea of a major repair, it tells you a lot about how the truck has been serviced.
Someone who really loves the vehicle does`nt let the tailpipe fall off or the rust get that involved on the tailgate. What they do is cover up everything like ripped seats and drive it into the ground.
Then it sits for a year, the rust keeps getting worse and they try to unload it.

May not be true of this particular truck, but I think for $3500 you can get something a lot cleaner if you`re patient.

Good luck.

Guy may have been a cruiser lover but he was an abusive lover. That thing's been raped.

That tailgate is not "minimal rust". The seller says he likes cruisers but doesn't say why he is selling it. Maybe something expensive is about to go... My opinion is that I wouldn't drive to far to go see it.
