I know there have been many posts regarding repair/troubleshooting of the tailgate motor however, I am missing the swithch up front and am trying to figure out if the motor and gears are good. The glass is gone and just the motor and channel remain. All of the wires are in place. Do I need to take the motor out and check it? Can it be checked in place? Any suggestions?

Howdy! I ran a hot wire from my battery all the way to the motor and then just a short jumper wire to the frame so I could be sure the motor was good. I had already replaced the dash switch and the famous plastic drive gear. Found out that the safety switch on the door frame was bad. I just rewired it bypassing the safety switch. Now I can turn the key and run the glass out with the door is open, so I can clean the glass on both sides without climbing in. John
