Devil's Playground May 31 - North Carolina 4x4 Forum

I will be heading down on Sat morning!! Would love to see some fellow Cruzrs there.

If you have not been, there is a link in there with directions, but basically in between Uwharrie and Thomasville, NC. Lots of little obstacles, well by little I mean you drive up and on...

Should be a blast, always a good chance you will get to watch someone roll their stuff. Bring a cooler and a chair to get comfy in too. You can drive a reg car in too and just walk to everything.

sam is it worth bringing a full bodied rig too???

ive seen lots of NCTTORA pics from past trips and looks fun, just wondering 80 or 55 if i can make it.

Oh yeah 80 or 62 will be fine, I will be taking my Cruzr up some obstacles, basically you have wide open area and then a BIG honkin boulder you can climb up from any which direction. Some of them are super hard even for the buggy boys.

But yeah, not narrow or anything, very little chance of body damage unless you don't have rocker protection or you find something that you want to try that is tippy.

Lots of stuff to try though that is perfectly safe for trying. What you have is maybe 20 acres / fields and then the rocks are on the edge in the woods, just a bit of trail between them but if too narrow, take a diff path kinda thing.

yeah with 31+ tires, you shouldnt be in much danger over there. Bring a camera. its a lot of fun watching guys try to climb the boulder Shinton is talking about.

So anyone from the Triangle heading over this weekend? I'm in need of a bit of dirt on my tires!

Got my oil changed yesterday and the a/c converted to the new stuff (blowing 40 degrees now out the center vents!) So I am good to go!

Planning on being there by 10ish am, those guys tend to sleep in a bit, seems to get going by about 10 usually and then goes all day...

Sam

Good to meet you Sam.

There was another guy there in a "fj40" buggy. his name was PJ and he owns M&M fabrication in mocksville. IT was a very well built buggy. The cool thing is he does fab work on cruisers.
Home

that may be old news to ya'll. Just thought i'd pass along the word for our benefit and his, lol.

I have 3 wimply cell phone pics too, and have lost my cable to my phone, so I won't have them till next week.

I did take the 80 over the one section / entrance to the big rock down at the far bottom of the field. Scrapped the lower arms more than I would have thought and the rear hitch (which I expect)

Got me thinking more about actually lifting the Cruzr. Previously I wasn't too sure since I knew I was going to tow with it some, but now that I know the towing will ONLY be local (Ure will be furthest with the 28' camper) then I am not nearly as worried about changing the height.

So now I am thinking I may go with an OME Medium J lift (I think that is correct, the 3.5ish version?) Would love to put 35s under there or maybe 37s if I can???
