I have gallon of Summit white paint that I was going to use on my fj60. This was stored in the garage and I guess the can must have gotten hot. I noticed some of the acrylic oozed out and hardened. I have not opened the can yet but was wondering if I can salvage it. if so, how? According to Summit, I cannot use it but what do you all think?

Here's the email exchange to/from Summit

"Hello Summit,

A few months ago I purchased a paint kit for a project Toyota Landcruiser... Paint kit is stored in my garage and today when I was finally going start painting, I noticed the gallon of paint has some oozing acrylic on the side of the can (as you can see in the attached picture). Can has never been opened. My question, can this paint still be used or do I have purchase another gallon?

I appreciate the advice.

Thank you,

Thank you for your email.

This is not something we normally see unless there was an issue with storage in a hot area. I would not recommend using this as it is, because it has lost some of the resins, binders, etc., that make paint "work" as it does. I would be willing to extend you an offer of a 20% discount if you decide to replace it.

We appreciate your business
