All,

May's multi-club event is right around the corner (14-16th of May), and I'd like to get the ball rolling on it since STR is taking up a lot of my time. The last couple of times we've had a great turnout, and Upstate Cruisers Lowcountry Chapter will be there also. We will of course invite our brethren from MATLCA (i.e. David) to join us.
I think we had a "full" campsite last trip, and with a few extras, we might want to reserve 2 sites, or rethink how to have a good organized site, possibly leaving the rigs parked out of the site. Blasphemy you say! Those sleeping in the rigs of course could park in a section, those camping would enjoy more space. If the rangers wanted to be real strict, we technically can have 50 people in a site, but only 10 rigs...
With having more kids at the events, it's also safer than everyone coming and going inside the campsite.
One last thing I will make sure we implement, is a co-mingled campsite(s). We will not have an ONSC site, and an Upstate Site, and a MATLCA site. There is no brother/sisterhood in doing this, and if this occurs I will not plan these type of events in the future. There's no reason to invite other clubs, and then close a campsite. I don't think we'd do it on purpose, but it might get overlooked as people arrive. So keep it in the back of your mind.
And as always, since this would be the first trip of the year to Uwharrie for many, buy a season's pass. It's the easiest way to support the trails...

I will cross-post this on the other sites, but check this link for the official up to date information. I'd like to have attendance numbers for each of the clubs by 15APR2010.

We are there.....what campsite do you guys use? We usually go to Arrowhead...bathhouse...clean pre-made sites with woods between them for some privacy for most part if you go to right side.

Just dont put me by anyone that likes to get up at 5am and start packing their tent and gear to go home early and bang around in the dark for an hour waking me up (LexTech LOL)....:D :D

They must be in the group site, I'll post on ONSC and check

Yeah, we choose the Badin Lake group campsites. Usually campsite A, but we have used B before. It's $50 a night for up to 50 people, a no brainer there, and the club funds pick up the fees for the Uwharrie trips.

Does that mean if we register through the ONSC we don't have to reserve a campsite ahead of time?

If we get enough riders to warrant a second campsite, I'll see what the club will do!

Those that have registered, see you this weekend! PM me if you need directions to either the Group Camp B or to Eldorado Outpost.

Those that are camping Friday night, I'll see you guys then. Those that are meeting us at Eldorado Outpost on Saturday morning, be there at 9am sharp. You'll have time to meet everyone, gas up, grab some grub, your trail pass, and we'll head out.

We'll divide up into groups and hit the trails in the morning, try and meet up for lunch, and then change it up for the afternoon ride. We'll end the day with some dinner (fending for yourselves) at Group Camp B.

Discreet with the drinks at camp. And, the county is dry, so fill up on your way there.

See you there!

Had a good crowd Friday night...cant remember all the names but the sea foam colored 40 (John and Trey) the 62, the few 80s, the 100 series with his girls, Jason with his FJ45 truck and of course his dog.

Then Saturday was a good show with about 15 vehicles in the morning....our group went Dutch John and Dicky Bell...then after lunch I hooked up with another group and did Wolfs Den and Dicky Bell again.

Busted motor mount in afternoon on drivers side but only makes the fan hit shroud if really grunting uphill with lots of strain and torque on drivetrain...so was quiet as mouse most the trail ride to camp and all the way to Charleston.

Made it from Charleston to Uwharrie on less than a tank of fuel....same on return trip so I was pleased.

Now to order motor mounts and replace the one that broke on drivers side when I get back from Wash DC. LOL

By the way...on Dicky Bell there was a rough spot of deep washouts in fluffy sand with big boulders....everyone was spinning and hopping and clawing. The old gal with Aussie locker in rear and KM2 aired down to 21pounds each crawled up and never slipped a tire on ANYTHING all day. Even when motor mount tore she kept walking up and up. I was very pleased.

Sounds like y'all had fun! wish I was there. Still haven't got the 4runner fixed. I got the gaskets from Sparks and now my brother is still dragging his feet on putting it in. I hope it is fixed for GSMTR. It looks like just me and dad are going. I've already registered!! My brother-in-law and his wife had their first little girl over the weekend so i've been at the hospital all weekend! A little 5 lb girl!! Miranda Claire Lee!! I've got another niece!!!

How did the 100's do?

they did good...only one or two. one had 2.5" lift and sliders...other had only sliders. Both did good other than being big and both owners had not wheeled them much before. One guy had his two daughters with him...it was his 9th Cruiser...80s and 100s. It was 2000 model he got from dealership in NC...dealer maintained...two owners...$13000 he paid. With some larger tires it would have done better.

The only rigs in my morning group that WALKED up all the trails we tried was a built 80 with front and rear lockers...and my 60. Everyone else spun a little or a lot depending on rig....At least in my group in morning. In afternoon they all pretty much made it easy with 3 80s, 40 series all original, and my 60. 80s are quickly becoming the most popular Land Cruiser on the trails it appears.

Obviously a product of the economy. Who can afford a wheeling vehicle and DD these days. 40's and 60's are getting older and much harder to maintain as a DD vehicle.

Another 10 years and 100 series will be the norm, and my 40 will probably still be in the garage on jack stands.

Looks like everyone had fun. Hopefully I can get together with you guys in July when I get back from California.

Jeremy
