I've said it before, I'll say it again.................

Marry an equestrian, anything you spend on vehicles will pale in comparison

Heather just returned from a 5 day event with our pseudo grand daughter. Both of them compete. Caden is 11 and rides/owns. Heather owns a champion jumper and helps manage a barn full of riders. She is Yoda. I don't even ask what the weekend total cost is. I do know that I live on a farm with 16, 4.5 fenced acres, 2 barns and a run in shed, a tractor, pulling truck and 2 place trailer complete with fully equipped tack room including wardrobe for two riders.

I told Heather the other night that I am planning on spending with little restraint on toys that roll until I die and plan to die broke. She laughed and said, so long as I can find the titles for said vehicles, spend away! Sad, she knows she'll recoup all the money. We'll not talk about that subject as it relates to horses..........

In one of Rory's (Trail Mater) video's on YouTube. Fixed an 80 that literlely broke the front axle tube. Weird failure mode.

Those Navtec 80s are a testament to 80s though. Pretty stock 80s with OME lifts and 35s. And a lot of them do 90mi offroad loops every day. Nothing crazy hard, but still a lot of miles on dirt.

Attended URE this weekend with some Rover friends. Jeff and his white Rover was there too. He described how much help Dave/Nathan/Johnny/... all Ole North was at GSMTR when he broke his rear axle. Kudos to a team always ready to the extra mile.

Also, I noticed a new sign at the entrance to Riverbend

I drove in far enough to see that there was a host of horse trailers there, so I didn't drive thru to see if there were any additional changes to go with the name. More might be revealed at Relic Run in a few months.

Jeff is good people. We had fun dragging that Rover off Trail 15 at GSMTR.

GM. I met a guy last night from Greensboro. He has an original 1972 2 door fast back Nova that his family has owned since new and he wants to get it restored. What are the best shops for this type of work in North Carolina? He said would spend whatever it takes. It runs great however needs some rust work. He had upgraded the motor many years ago however he wants to install a LS and a manual transmission. He said not an LS that would twist the frame in half. That was funny. Thank you.

GM X bodies like the 72 Nova don't have a frame, so no worries there. Might twist the body in half though.;) If he really and truly wants to spend "whatever it takes," tell him to call Detroit Speed and Engineering in Mooresville.

If "whatever it takes" is multi 6 figures he could also go to Daniel of TLC 4x4 / Retro Designs in Huntersville

Solid rec’s above ☝️

CB loser to home he could try Oliver at east coast autowerks. Not sure if he would take on the drivetrain swap though.

Well my racing career spans an awe inspiring 34 seconds...

The Tour of Destruction is an amazing event of the most redneck parts of any circle track race. Those events that normally round out the night at a normal weekly race like skid plate races and chain races are the main event. They go twice a year to Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson SC. I've been 3 times and finally decided I needed to become a participant.

Enter the 2 door 4.0 Ford explorer, not your average race car. But seeing as how a tree fell on it and I was loaned it for the race for free, how could I resist.

I put a $13 fuel pump in it and a $1.96 tie rod end in and after gutting it and removing all the glass she was race ready.

But seems a blue crown Vic had other ideas. He decided he wanted to pass me, and apparently the 3 car widths next to me weren't enough, so as we crossed the line to mark lap 1, he pit manuevered me, I went straight into the wall, slid, and rolled.

The guy did end up finding me later in the night and apologizing which I appreciate. I'm just fortunate enough to have walked away with just a sprained ankle and some whiplash. Could've been a whole lot worse seeing as how my head went out the window at least twice, and the roof crushed down to my helmet.

I will return! Next year, in a sedan, preferably V6. With a cheap roll bar kit, an older aluminum race seat from a buddy, a window net, and a harness.

After she was off the track, I would've kept racing, but it spilt the radiator wide open. Also broke the transmission mount off. Uncover ratchet strapped that back.

Importantly, I also view it as an accomplishment, that I had the worst wreck of the night, and I broke the piss out of the concrete wall surrounding the infield lol

More carnage and video evidence

First link is a potato quality video my dad took of the whole first lap and wreck, second link is an actual clear shot at the roll.

That dude was not happy with you blocking him on the prior turn, and pitted you right into the wall, lol.

I wish I knew exactly how many people got pitted in the course of that race, it was ridiculous lol. Like 1/3 of the field was out after 5 laps. And these are seriously well built cars lol

My buddy Sam was in a maxima and got pitted into the water barrels by the infield entrance like 2 laps in, he made it back out there, then his hood flew open and a minivan pitted him into the wall and it successfully closed his hood.

Unfortunately for Sam that was his last race also, one of those hits turned his passenger tie rod into a piece of spaghetti and broke an CV and busted his radiator.

That sounds like a frickin riot, lol. I kinda want to sign up now.
