Has anyone done v-belts on an FJ62? I ordered the belts and a billet tensioner pulley from Cruiser Matt earlier this year but I haven’t put them on yet.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the job with forum posts but I don’t have a sense for finalizing the tension.
Don’t go too tight. The crank pulley is riveted into the harmonic balancer. Overtightening the belts can cause the rivets to loosen up. Eventually the pulley can separate from the HB. This happened to me. Good and snug is good enough…as long as they don’t squeal.

Lost all oil pressure on i40 today, truck ran with low/no pressure for 2-4m. Leaning towards a ruptured oil cooler hose. Hoping for no internal damage, thankfully it’s still leaking oil even though the stick comes back clean.

Yeesh. The oil cooler hoses carry coolant, the oil flows through the cooler through banjo bolts right into the block.

Hopefully it's not roached.

Yeah, I’m really hoping there’s no scoring. Had it towed and we’ll see. The engine was running fine when I shut it off, but that could be a false hope.

Looking more into it, might be a failed oil galley plug...

Failed oil galley plug would make sense given the side of the motor you pictured. If it wasn't knocking bad, you saved it. Have faith.

New head, rebuilt, what? It's a pressed in plug that works itself out of 2F and 3F/E motors over time. Get a tap and die set, pull that head bolt, tap the oil galley plug bore, stick some allen plugs in there with some loctite and reassemble, you're done.

Ah, that's a good backup plan. Thanks for suggesting that. We're looking into the rethread and tap and also epoxy press. I'll let y'all know what we use.

No one's suggesting he needs to rebuild a head or a needs a new head. I'm offering a fellow cruiser 3fe owner a free spare head if he wants it so it's not just sitting around waiting to be junked.

@TheElegantFox let me know if you want it and i'll make sure Brian didn't get any plans for it. I was going to either build it myself for the 2FE I had or use it as a core for mosley motors for one of their top of the line 3fe heads. But since I gave the 2FE to Brian I don't need or want it lol

I went the tap and set screw with Loctite route in the pig 🐷. Make sure you cover the tap with thick grease to collect the metal shavings generated so they are not feee to migrate inward. Then clean well to allow Loctite to bind. Hope you caught it in time and can get back in action soon

Got suckered in by the marketing Scout has been doing and put in a reservation. I like the approach and departure angles, the fold flat seats, range extender, and the split gate. When they finally get built, I may end up falling back to an LC250 on the used market though. There's definitely some things on this that I love from my FJ62 I wish Toyota had targeted for the LC250.

They look slick! The video's almost pass for being real time and soon will, but man...I'd like to see one in action before I took the deep dive. Post how it goes and how the preorder process works out.

You know, what I’m beginning to think the solution to the FJ62 and Chevy still being in the shop is, another Land Cruiser.

This FJ80 is gonna sell before I can get over to TN but I’m gonna keep my feelers out for under $20k rigs. Would be cool to have a backup rig that friends and family can drive on trips.

Another Landcruiser is the solution to most of life’s problems

Has anyone been out to see this FJ40 in Raleigh?

I chatted with him today, I’m skeptical because the listing says over a year. I did confirm it’s the original engine.
Over a year?!?!? There’s got to be a reason why.

I don't know if y'all are following along with the Dakar rally this year, but the Toyota Auto Body factory team is competing against a factory backed Land Rover Defender team in the stock class. Land Rover is directly aiming to compete with the Toyota teams and the match up should be really interesting. They're campaigning their TTV8 110 Defenders against the TTV6 300 series Land Cruisers:
