Got the rig one year ago July the 24th 2006.
I have no regrets getting the rig, never will.

My thought on the FJ Cruiser?

Pros:
4.0 engine is the beef.
Plenty of power and torque, never weary of passing someone or merging onto the freeway if I need to.

Nice layout in the interior, seats are super comfortable, even during long drives.

Good off road package coupled with the A trac system up front, and the rear E locker in the rear.

Fording depth is 27.5" up front for the air intake.

Tons and tons of aftermarket items are available for the rig as vendors of old who only catered to the solid axle crowd now jump on the success of the FJ Cruisers off road capability.

Cons:
Paint, perhaps all paint now coming from Toyota is softer and scratches easier IMO than the paint of old such as my '91 4Runner and my '90 Xtracab before it.

Smudges on the windows from palm prints and face/nose impressions from curious gawkers wanting to see the inside.

Can not think of anymore negative items, and no, there are no blind spots for me.
You have learn how to adjust your mirrors and use them with this rig, easy to do.

There are many more items I could think of for pros, but the fact is I am 100% happy with the rig.

Also you get to meet a bunch of other owners who share your excitement of the outdoors.

Got mine roughly same time. June 06.

Still trying to warm up to it. Not saying I am unhappy with it at all.
I'm still missing my 80 series somewhat.

I think I'll like the FJC someday. But that might not be til its paid for and
I can really start abusing it.

Dood--get rid of the FJCrapunit and get back into an 80 and be done with it....

Later Lovey.

I am coming up on one year... or maybe I am at one year. I got mine in either July or August last year and it's been flawless. No problems whatsoever and always drives like a dream. Been on plenty of trips to the beach, and a couple of trail rides, and the 4wd works perfectly. With a combination of lockers and ATRAC you can't go wrong.

I'm getting close to 6 months, and I'm loving it. It's the closest to being the perfect vehicle me of any car being manufatured today.

Only thing I'd change about it is the rear door. I wish it was more more like the Land Cruzers, and had a swing out tire carrier with a tailgate. The windsheild could be more airodynamic too, but it probably wouldn't look as cool that way.

Well the windshield is supposed to have a more vertical look as it is supposed to have styling cues off it's predecessor the 40. Now I'll tell you what would have been cool is if they had put ambulance doors on it!

:D

My wife has had hers since 5/06.

I agree on the paint being "soft".

The only other thing I can think of is in this age of electronic gadgets they did not put in more power sources, and the one they did put in does not have power with the vehicle off.

My 6 year old Ford truck has better power options that the FJC does:rolleyes:

Other than that, we love the vehicle.

So far 18K miles and many trails from mild to wild.
Investment - A few mods for armor and clearance.
Wear and tear: 1 lower font A-arm, 1 small dent in the driver's rear quarter, both bumpers, lots of texture coating.
Areas needing improvement - Cabin ventilation (as in opening rear windows)

Net result - I love it overall.

I had a 2000 Toyota Celia that's paint chiped really easily. I beilve that any new car made in the last decade or so will have a "soft"er or "hard"er paint on it (depending on how you want to look at it) then older cars. It's most likly due to EPA regulations or something like that.

Bought it for the wife. only two complaints I have is seats are too unconfortable for long trips. and when driving with windows down the wind slaps your face. My ram 2500 diesel has more confort but the FJ is a great vehicle and a lot of fun. Peppy little thing. Now that the wife has a job (after 4 years) we will be doing some upgrades.

now that i've had my FJ for a year, the novelty still hasn't worn off. i still feel the toddler inside me go bonkers everytime i start the engine. i rarely notice the "blind spots"- i only it annoying when i'm being tailgated by a minicooper. something that small is just about invisible behind the spare tire. things i enjoy? it moves. the engine is powerful and loud, it definitly gets the job done. if my friends wait outside for me to show, they can swear that they can hear the bassy rumble, quite awhile before i get there, and they "hear a tank coming, and i know who it is". after driving this, i could never imagine driving a 200hp wrangler. that being said. girls love the truck. i have a black one, which often draws- "oh my god, it looks like a giant panda!" not sure what to think about it. only it does have girls constantly ask for a ride in the truck, so i won't complain. i don't have any complaints about the truck. i can't wait till i have to change the tires. i plan on putting on 285's BFG AT's (i have stock wheels), thinking about a metal bumper, hopefully one that would be attached to the chassis, something strong enough to be used as a pushbar. oh, and guys with the tire cover. write on it with chalk. i've put up some funny stuff before. my favorite, being a picture of The juggernaut (comic book villian) crushing a jeep over his head.

It doesn't get better than the FJ!!

Only 6 months under my belt- but a terrific purchase for the family. Just what I ordered. The goofy stuff is limited to the weak paint finish, I was in denial- but my '00 Tundra still looks newer chip-wise (50k). It's exactly what I expected- and exceeded my expectations greatly in Moab (with under 900 miles on it). If Toyota would offer more base 4x4s- and the weblink to All-Pro Offroad upon purchase- the used 4-runner, 40,60,80 would drop siginificantly! Great rig- blue is the right color- and the only color Boiseans wave to eachother in! Let's see, oh, and the Walker Evans shocks make this thing float like a Pro-Super Truck at freeway speeds- awesome for blowing by H3s at about 85 during my morning commute- they never see what's coming 'til the 33" spare's far in front.....
