Hello Mud. Kinda stupid question’ish. Ordered up Old Man Emu MT64 for the 200. Rear shocks arrived in perfect condition. Front assemblies (strut, spring and top hat) were assembled by the vendor prior to shipping. Everything looked good when delivered.

But apparently I wasn’t paying close enough attention. The top hats are OME (OMETH003) and have “out” stamped into the top plate. This is supposed to point away from the centerline of the car. I just noticed that the lower strut eyelet — the part that mounts to the lower control arm — is oriented perpendicular to the lca mount point (when the top hat “out” is oriented correctly. I.e. 90 degrees off.)

Confirming I’ll need to have the whole assembly disassembled and re-jiggered to line everything up correctly.

I’m assuming the top hats are asymmetric and “out” is there for a reason.

I have a request in to the vendor.

Can’t you just rotate the lower eyelet 90 degrees?

Update/conclusion:

I wasn’t manly enough to clock the strut body/eyelet by hand. Talked to my shop; they had a spring compressor on hand, so compressed the spring and clocked the eyelet. Disaster averted. Back on track.
