Hey all,

I'm trying to install my OME list this weekend and wondered if anyone wanted to help a newbie. I'm located in Burlington, I have hand tools (no air tools yet) and garage space, but I am game to drive to Raleigh, Winston, etc if someone would rather help at their house.

I think I could tackle this on my own (serviced the front end solo) but I'm sure others have ton's more experience than me and two people are always better than one :D. Also, the wife and dog probably won't help much if I tackle it on my own!
Of course beer and food will be on me .

Would help you but Wilmington is a bit of a drive! The first time I put my lift on it was me with the stock bottle jack and one high lift jack! The second and third time I had the wife help!!

You could always sign up if you are not a member and come over the the HAMOM. I don't think we have an official project yet. Not sure if that one would take to long though? I know my FJ 40 lift is going to take me about 8 hours by myself by the time I am done.

Definitely planning to join the group but I'll be out of town for work over the next few weeks so this weekend is the only chance I have for a while

I'm not planning to do the CC bushings this weekend. I ordered landtank's template and will probably pull the arms myself and see if one of the local shops can press out the old ones and press in the new ones for a decent price.

I might just tackle this sucker on my own. I had the shocks replaced ~25kmiles ago so the bolts shouldn't be that tough to get loose. Maybe the wife could help - ha!

If you want to come to my house I can help you. I have done it before. Just let me know. Sunday will work out better for me.

Thanks for the offer.

I was able to get off of work a bit early yesterday and went ahead and started solo. I got the front done last night and hope to have the rear finished by noon for the NCSTATE game.

Let me know how hard it was getting a shop to press the bushings? I had the bushing and the Template from Landtank but I could not find a shop to press them for me. The ones that could do it wanted well over $150. Sold the busing and templated and bought Slee castor plates and did them myself.

Well I finished the install Saturday afternoon. The rear DS spring was a pain to get in but eventually I got it. Total time to finish was around 6 hours working solo. I worked pretty slow and had to run to the store a couple of times for misc new tools.

I have yet to get the bushings pressed in. The alignment guy at Colony tire didn't seem to want to do the work and I had to explain to him what he would need to do. At one point he asked what difference the new bushings would make. After hearing that I figured it best to try elsewhere. The truck is a little darty so I am going to not drive it much (or at least highway speeds until I get the bushings installed).

If anyone knows of a decent place in the Burlington/Greensboro/High Point area that could do this please let me know.

Now for the pics :bounce:!!

I like the new look. The tires are freaking huge compared to the stock size. Can't wait to see the expression on the :princess:'s face when she gets home from work. It's gonna be great!!

hey jon-- i responded to your thread on the national site, but your welcome to try and schedule a bushing press day here at the house. I have a 12 ton press that should do it. Another note, i think we may have another member lifted w/out cc, so we could aim to knock both out one afternoon.

truck looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!

express lube did the job first time here, like 20 cash to the tech at lunch time, never even entered the showroom :)
my local firestone has a 25 ton press in the corner too (the one bout a mile north of CULP)

Thanks Jason.

The bushing press deal sounds like a plan. My truck has absolutely no rust so hopefully the bushings will not be a pain to get pressed out. I called Jeff at Toyz Unlimited just to see what he would do them for and he said the computer was telling him 3 hours per arm - WOW!!.

I'm down for using the press at your house and it would make sense to knock out both trucks the same day. I'm planning to take the truck by the Firestone here in Burlington for a castor sweep in the next day or two.

Just let me know what works best.

Where in Burlington are you? I just moved from there, but my parents still live in Graham, So i'm always there.

Nice.. I know exactly where that is. My rents live in graham off Rogers Rd.
I should be coming home one of these weekends, I'd love to check out your rig/hit some local trails.

John, ill only charge you two hours at a member rate () :D

You ever get your bushings in?

Thanks for the discount :D. I was shocked when that guy at Colony Tire told me that - WOW.

Haven't installed them yet as I've been out of town for work and the trucj hasn't been driven. I ended up ordering Slee blues seeing that I might add spacer up front to level it out a bit. Decisions decisions...

I have landtanks template that youre more than welcome to use, Jason and I used it to put my slee blues in and it made it very easy.
