Hi all, I am considering getting the OME heavy duty front and medium duty in the back and I would like to know if anyone out there has this or simular and what it does to the ride, compaired to the stock springs and struts? I am planning on getting a ARB bumper with 9000i winch installed, but I would like to go with the lightest springs I can cause this vehicle will be on road 90% of the time as I am using this as my daily driver.

thanks

You are putting together the right combination of springs and struts on the front for the Winch and Bumper you are installing cause that is about the heaviest combo you can have. The heavy duty will be perfect for the front.

As for the rear I have heard that if you put on the medium duties for the rear and don't weigh it down at all, it will be very rough. I would look into buying from someone like Toytec Lifts (http://www.toyteclifts.com) and buying the same front setup you have listed and then the OME rear shocks and their "Custom ride" springs for the rear. They are awesome springs and ride the exact same as stock. I have known two guys so far who have shanged their rear springs from OME to Toytec because of the stiff ride and I personally have the Toytec in the rear and love the ride. They are an OME dealer and can put together the perfect package for you.

If you want to stick all OME try the light duties in the rear and contact either Barb or Jaque at Toyota of Dallas (http://www.fjcruiseroffroad.com) and they will hook you up with the complete setup at the best price.

That is my .02.

Welcome. :flipoff2:

Your gonna want the heavys with the ARB/winch combo.

I just installed the same set-up as you are thinking about doing last month. It gave the fj a 4" lift and helped raise the sagging front end after I installed the bumper/winch (M8000) combo. The back is stiffer and it does feel a bit more rough when bouncing over rough terrain; however, it is not that bad. I am happy with the ride.

Howdy,

Did the same OME lift to my FJ. Definetly the way to go. Today, I had 295/75/16 Nitto's installed on the stock TRD wheels. Rides great and no rubbing or mods needed, even for the spare. With the ARB front bumper and 8K winch, definetly go with the heavy. Good luck with the rig...

Just like the ARB winch bumper, the Warn bumper and winch combo needs the support of the OME "heavies." 200+ pounds needs all the help it can get.

I happened to go with the 896's in the rear to accomadate the weight of a full-length interior rear cargo storage system. But, the 895's should do you just fine in the back.

OME

I've got heavies in the front, mediums in the back, ARB bumper/9000 winch. Rides rough, but it IS a truck. Want a soft ride? Get a Camry. ;p

896 up front
895 back aft

ARB/Winch up front works great with the HD setup.

Cargo box back aft works great with the mediums, even with the extra weight of the box and fridge setup.

Rides rougher than stock as noted here already, it should since the suspension is stiffened up.

Rides better in corners, handles better overall than the stock setup.

i was planning on building a box similar to that. good lookg box btw. do you have it loaded yet? do you find the drawers could afford to be shallower by another inch or 2? i'm thinking about putting a slide out "tabletop" in addition to the fold over type setup you've got there

I second that, even if you do not get the bumper winch combo yet, you will be already prepared when you do. i have the heavy front and medium rear have no issues with it.

I am new to this... so the heavy front and the medium rear would do 3" with ARB bullbar and 9k winch?

I went HD front and rear. The ride is stiffer and feels more like a 4x4. Plus the lift looks like a 6inch pro-comp. I love it! No bumper yet, but winch soon to come.

anyone can share the feel of the ride and maybe the mpg after the 3"? i m thinking i might just do 2.5" since i m more like an every day driver.
