There is a remote possibility that we will be permanently leaving Jackson Hole for points west and wetter. . . aka the the Port Townsend area of the Olympic Peninsula.

Does anyone have recommendations for trails in the area? Nothing real hardcore. . . Old Growth forests, epic wildflower meadows, wildlife, etc . . . all would be good.

Not a whole lot of trails out there. The closest wheeling area is Tahuya which is on the south end of the peninsula. Everything else will just be forest service roads. The Olympic national park and national forests are pretty cool to explore though.

If there were old growth forests left in the PNW (there aren't), you can bet that off roading would not be allowed in them. There are some isolated stands of old growth at higher elevations, and most of the largest individual trees of several temperate rain forest species can be found in this area. Is it Quillayute (sp?) where there's a ranger station and some trails to big trees, and the Hoh forest is popular for exploring by foot.

Hoh rainforest is a must! Unbelievable

There are a lot of FS roads on the Olympic penninusula, most are from logging. Lots of beautiful terrain. Any high clearance vehicle will be fine. A forrester for example will work. There is old growth, and you need to access on foot. There are also trails in the cascades, in BC, Idaho, Oregon, etc.
