I would go with the 01 with TRAC. You can tell when you turn on the key of a 100 - there will be TRAC and VSC dash lights that come on and then go off after the engine starts (unless there is a problem - then they stay lit).

The 01 with 100K miles is indicative of highway miles. The 98 with 50K indicates lots of sitting and short trips. Since your use includes short trips to work, I would change all fluids (diffs/transfer/trans) to synthetic as soon as you get the LC.

+1 for the newer truck (I also have an '01). This isn't a direct comaprison, but it makes the point: my first car was a 1977 Olds Cutlass, with 37K. That was in 1990. Little old lady owned it. The years take a toll on anything rubber, including hoses, belts, and engine mounts. You have to assume that the lifespan of the LC is 200K+ miles, if it's cared for, so 98K is just getting broken in really.

newer++. High mileage '02 or '03 would be even better. Once in a while, you can find a LX that the PO put 30K mi/year on. I saw a travelling salesman driving through town on I-10 in a new LX (last year) w/ a bunch of suits hanging from a bar across the rear.
