Anyone collect old tools? I picked up the antique vacuum gauge the other day. I'm not sure how old it is but the directions were typed. I'm guessing 1940s?

Old tools are very cool. They just don't make them like they used to. That manual is likely worth more than the gauge - very cool together.

I have a gauge like that. Not as clean though.

got plenty of stuff like that . will try and get some pictures .

I have been bringing back to full service a 1929',Southbend lathe. I use it for projects, and hopefully a little side cash.:D

On Snap on metal tools the logo has changed over the years, my dealer can tell by these changes the era the tool was made, since I have my Dad's tools (he started wrenching in the 50's) I have quite a few real oldies, still use them.

If you talk to a Snap-on dealer, they have a code chart that corresponds with a year marking on tool itself. I've got a 1/2" breaker bar from 1941 given to me by my grandpa, still use it on an almost daily basis.

cool, but where is that number on the tool?.. the only odd number out is way down on interior bottom. It says "U.S. Gauge 8978" it looks like the 1927-1930 font

I love this old set of screwdrivers, so much so that I refuse actually to use them. Just open the box every once in a while and look at them.:D

Those screwdrivers are nice, but not that old....

They are the four-sided handle and are a brushed finish.

Earlier handles were smooth in that shape.

Previous to that style handle, they were three-sided, and smooth.

You know they are somewhat old if they hardly come with any Philips heads.

It's very similar to the design they use now, isn't it?

I was always curious as well. Looking at that guy frankmurch's website it says 1962-1970.
Sound about right Poser?
