I picked up an old Skil 77 to clean up and occasionally use. I pulled the oil plug only to find the saw dry as a bone inside with nice bronze gear shavings everywhere.

Does anyone know if replacement gears for the newer saws can be installed in an older one? The saw in question looks like this...

If you cannot find a local company. There is a company inStockton California that used to and maybe still does rebuild those and carries all the parts.

PM me if you stike out in your area and want their phone number.

Sears sells parts for every make of power tool, I've found. I bought new guts for my old Skil wormdrive from them, they even tossed in a photocopy of the original owner's manual for me, just cause I asked.

All of my interweb research says that the newer parts are not interchangeable and that the parts for the old saws are discontinued.

Dan, if you have that company's number handy, that'd be great.

In the mean time, I found another one that still has oil in it:clap:
