so do any of you that know more than me about the new old school cruisers (fj cruiser) know if there is any intention to do an fj40 esk removeable hard top? or even a convertable? ive seen custom made convertables for sale on like ebay i think and in my opinion the look like nasty. any input or can we start a petition and send it to toyota?
I wish they had done the back end a little differently myself. A removable top and a tailgate would have been cool, but from what I'm hearing nothing like that is planned any time soon, if at all. You could always get a custom body shop to do it for you, but it'll be pricey.
TRD did a soft top conversion that's pretty cool, but they said there is no way they could offer it as a kit because it's way to much of a custom job. You can check it out at http://trdusa.com/
that top is deffinately not the one i was seeing else where i can't get the puter im using to let me open the rest of the info on it but it looks pretty mean i like that alot.... it was just my thought that in an attempt to bring back proply the best selling LC of all times they might as well have given it all the best features BUT NOOOOOO. oh well they still look cool.
I certainly don't think they look "cool" like an FJ40 does....WTF Toyota?
Why can't you give us a modern version of the 40? Jeep seems to be able to
keep doing it with the Wrangler. Call me "old school" I guess....
Very very disappointed.
I want a new 70 series as well. All the good stuff!
FJCs are growing on me, but some of the over "styled" bits leave me pretty cold. I'm hoping version 2 will kill off the stupid front bumper "design", make it functional and not "styled". It's like automotive "what not to wear". I like the white roof-that's the best part of the FJC.
Sorry about my rants...my 60 is soon to be shipped off to Wyoming once my
Dad's log cabin gets finished. I know I'm going to miss her and would like to
replace her with a something akin to a 40 series but am shocked at the
prices for Original, great condition 40"s. I'd like to be able to purchase
something brand new that I can look at. I had a $500.00 deposit down on
one of the first FJC due in town. Once I saw it, sat in it, I couldn't pull the
trigger. Driving away from the dealership my Dad was in total agreement.
I'm holding out hope for version II and will make due with my trail-rated Tacoma.
Dusty 66 u sure know how to kick a man in the junk, that point is another thing about jap made 4x4 that i have always hated y don't we get the best models eg. yotas the whole 70 series any of the bj/hj series on any # cruiser, and as much as there kinda homely the advantages of the 4 door hilux (plus i kinda have a soft spot for boxy 4x4's like the pigs) another keeping the solid axle in all non us model trucks period for who knows how long. another eg. Zuks any of yah seen the LWB Samurais? i want one so much im gunna build one eventually cause you can't even legaly import em any more from what ive been told.
so again a big WTF TOYOTA and as far as version 2 i agree with everything said kill the dumper (compound work dumb and bumper god i crack me up) loose the tree grabbing lights and make a damn convertable with a fold down windshield or im gunna be disapointed in you forever and never by another yota again ....... yeah right but still (in my best mathiew mconahe and im actually wearing a sleevless shirt as i type) it'd be alot cooler if you did.

Me too, the FJ is not my dream ride, but darn close and dose a very capable job of getting us there off road and then some when needed, and gets you there in modest comfort, and IMHO looks good too.
I love the OLD school JUST look at my sig. line Or anything square boxy utility type,my 40s is just a big model It will not ever see anymore 4x4 ing,
The 55 is my dream rig it's in line for a re-do this will be the off road cruiser, the FJ60 & FZJ80 have done there jobs Well when I haul around the Family camping /hunting or an afternoon in the desert .kid's are grown now don't drive the 80 much these days and i don't need a family tank anymore. BTW it's for sale again. I wish we could buy what the outer world Land cruiser vehicles too.....
when there is enough $$$ & demand in the market TOYOTA will offer something tougher I hope ?
