refound this in my basement looking for camping gear for my daughter. it belonged to my wife's grandfather. looks to have been hardly used. no serial number on it. i think it would date to the 60's.

ok. was not expecting a 100 page + thread on this.

The date of that lantern is stamped on the bottom. It's missing the bail...aka handle.

the bail is in the box.

it does not have a serial number which is apparently a thing with early 60's canuck 200 lanterns.

also it seems to be a very early "200a" hybrid. note the letter "a" hand stamped on the box off centre after the "200" and note the lower vent cap is not a 200 vent cap. i can find 200s with no serial number and early canuck 200a's with the same hybrid vent cap and a serial number, but i can't find both together.

I guess I did not catch it is a made in Canada model. Should still have a date stamp....and I don't mean serial number.

Nice lantern either way

It's a normal 200A. Canadian models had an extra loop in the tip cleaner. Yours looks nice. It will almost certainly run as is.

I'm going to guess 64-65-66. It has the newer vent, and mid 60s fuel cap. The sticker looks later 60s. Earlier had a yellow border. Things might have been slightly different in Canukistan.

Post a pic of the bottom of the font. Bet there's a date. I have a couple of Canadian Lanterns and all were date stamped. No serial numbers though. Just a date of font manufacture if you're lucky.

Coleman was famous for being cheap and re-using boxes and other stuff, even when the new model was out.

Put a mantle and fuel in it and post pics of it running in the Coleman thread.

i looked again very closely and this time found a faint date of 1-68 on the bottom. it is marked made in canada.
i am quite sure it would work fine with a mantle.
