I have 87 F2 and the steel hose that was attached to the plug (I modified to plug off hole) was broke. I can't find this part in the manual that I have on my computer. The box that it screws into goes next to the exhaust mahifold. Will plugging it hurt anything. I think it is part of the omissions system.

Mine has been plugged too. The "box" is the EGR cooler ( exhaust gas return)
I would remove the hose and plug that end too as it feeds into the intake manifold. There is lots of info on this site about this stuff. do a search for
EGR Removal.

If it's not doing anything, can't you just remove the box alltogether?

After reading some of the previous desmog info and not knowing how to exactly remove the system, I think I will just plug both holes and leave it. Thanks for the info. I used PB Blaster on the bolt for 3 days after running the engine, and it came of with ease believe it or not.
