Replaced my original oil pressure sender with a saas branded sender and it only seems to screw in just over 1/2 way into the thread is normal ? It’s not going straight into the block either

The engine is a 1hz with an aftermarket turbo, Teflon tap on as well

That adapter may have a different thread pitch. Toyota factory 1/8th BSP is close but different than aftermarket 1/8th NPT
Yeah seems to be the case the original sender had a smaller amount of thread too with the end of it being smooth with no grooves, I’ll try and find another thread that mentions 1/8 npt will fit but that was straight into the block I’m pretty’s sure, just worried about how much it’s meant to screw it

don't mean to be a bummer , but probably should stick to as close to oem as possible for your factory gauge. The factory gauges are not very good and with a sender which is not perfectly suited would make it read even more inaccurately. Don't force a tapered thread.

You can get brass adapters which fit from bsp to npt, male to female, etc. on ebay and other joints. But messing with the oem sender and even perhaps the length of adapter could encourage gremlins. The oem senders last a long time, exy tho.

Use your aftermarket gauge for an aftermarket led numerical gauge, same brand is better as they should be calibrated. They are great just to read the psi number at the time. There is sandwich adapters which fit between your oil filter and engine filter mount which have a variety of sized holes for gauge senders and even oil bypass filters on ebay. I like the 'jackmaster 'model and autometer brand if a good price, marshal for liquid filled mechanical gauges which are the most accurate. 'Supercrap' is generally what they sell, but have their moments for oil on sale, or tool at a hurried pinch.

You don't have to put in a bypass filter, I like them. But knowing your exact oil pressure is very comforting. Thankfully for you I don't think the hz had the same oil pressure problems which the 2h had.
Hey you are in Melbourne too!

Legend thanks for all that the gauge on the dash and the send itself we’re both buggered so I went the aftermarket route. It’s weird it definitely screws in and very easily but just seems too long I’ll have a look at the adapter that’s on it and if I need to change it out for the right thread if it isn’t already
Haha look at that
