Hello everyone. Long time listener. First time caller. I am currently rebuilding a 5VZ-FE. Following the FSM came across a halting condition. I asked this question over at the Yotatech forum but someone suggested I try over here. I am pretty sure this is a common question. I am building a new 5VZ-FE. I assembled the new pistons and rods with the casting mark on the rods and the dots on the pistons aligned as per manual. Could include a picture of that from the FSM but is probably copyright. Anyway when I do what the FSM says that will put one of the banks oil ports in the rods facing outwards not inwards? Other motors I have done oil ports always went outwards. Is this just an error in the manual or an oversight that doesn't matter? I note the manual says nothing about the orientation of the oil ports in the piston assembly at all?

That was me that sent you this way. I think you might get some more info from the 3rd gen 4Runner section or maybe the T100??

Maybe @gnob @OGBeno @pappy or @alia176 might have some experience or info to share about the 5VZ-FE?

I hope you get if figured out. Please share what you find out.

My family has had 5 vehicles with this engine. Lots of miles and never had to really repair anything. Routine maintenance. I swapped an oil pan for my engine swap.

Sorry you didn't get an answer. Please post up what you find.
