Good morning, picked up this carb with the intention of rebuilding for our 1977 FJ40 (based on the stamped numbers). Long story short, after an inquiry to Jim C, it appears that this is a 1970-1972 non-USA 1F carb and most likely produced as a service replacement part on May 28, 1976 OR May 28, 1986. Everything moves freely. So, I don't want it. $75 plus shipping?

I plan to dig into it tomorrow.

Apparently it sat outside for a while.

It should clean up ok. The vacuum tube on the secondary bore that operates the choke breaker was/is broken off. More of a big deal if you had sold it to someone else. I'm probably going to rebuild this and run it on the Karma Cruiser, which doesn't use a choke breaker or opener, so it won't matter to me.😊

I’m glad that YOU bought it and can use it. I know most things are sold as is but anything I sell I feel personally responsible for and hope that it what was received as expected. Guess it’s a “karma” thing. Be well sir and hopefully things are getting back to normal out there on the west coast.

Well, I used my executive privilege and moved this up the assembly line. It told an interesting story.

Jim C was right that it was a replacement carb made in 1986. What is more interesting to me is that someone else took the time to open up the carb and replace the ROW main jet with an undersized jet. And what’s sad is they did so because they didn’t see/didn’t know that there was a problem with the power valve, making the engine run rich (thus the knee jerk reaction to put in a smaller main jet.

It took about six hours to thoroughly clean and reassemble it. Extra handwork that I was just discussing with @thundermcawesum

It’s raining now, and when it clears I need to do a little work on the 45. But I should have it installed on the Karma Cruiser soon enough.😉 Thanks again.

You are very welcome. For all that you do for this community, it’s great to see you get something that you can personally use. Again, you are very welcome but even more, thank you for all that you do!!!

I have honed my powers of patience on wiper motor sanding. I am nearly immune to mind-numbing detail work. If you think it’s a good idea, I’ll clean the crap out of it before I send it off to you.

Please do.😉
