Hello!

Could anyone tell an offset of a rim/wheel on a HZJ73 - FRP top? My wheel size is "15 and tires are 33/12.5/15 and they fit perfectly right on the fender. Don't want them peeking out the fender.

My reason for asking is because when I finally decide to buy a new set of tire, I might want to replace the wheels as well. Problem is I'm going to buy them online, and don't want to be ordering the wrong set of wheels. The wheels by the way are from Method Race Wheels. I don't want to ruin my current offset as they fit perfectly. Just a new look and a new set of tires which are due for changing.

Thanks!

At least -20 for leaf sprung 70 series. The more negative the offset, the more your wheels will protruding outwards.

Hi All,

The stock wheel off-set for leaf-sprung, solid-axle Land Cruisers is 3.5 inches.

But the width of the stock size tires is only like 9.5 inches, so a 12.5 width tire likely will extend farther than the fender.

I don't think this is any way to run a tire as wide as 12.5 inch and have full tread coverage by the stock fenders. Flares would be necessary to cover the exposed, wider tire tread.

Regards,

Alan

My offset on my stock 16x7 inch alloy wheels is 27mm. If you like the look of the offset on your current wheels then you should look at the inside of one of the rims and see what offset it has. Offset is almost always stamped inside the rim (usually the last two numbers).

If when you buy new rims you increase the width of your rim, then you will need to adjust the offset accordingly. In that case I would suggest you use one of the offset calculators like this one: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

For example, if I changed from my 16x7 27mm offset rims to my friend's stock 200 wheels at 17x8 at 50mm it would move the outer edge of the WHEEL 10mm more inward.

But if what you are worried about is how far the tire sticks out or in, then the rim is just part of the equation. For example, if in addition to changing the rims, I also changed my tires from 285 width to 305 width, that would move the outer edge of the tire out by 10 mm on each side of the rim (inboard and outboard, since the 305 is 20mm wider than the 285). That increase in tire width by 10mm would compensate for the 10mm the Wheels had moved inboard and would result in a tire/rim combo that sat flush with the outside the same as my current wheels/tires do.

Make sense?

!

As the others have said, they will poke out of the fender and I think they will rub on the rear inside of the fender when you turn.
Some fix this with a hammer by bashing the offending piece of metal,I prefer narrower tyres.
33x10.5x15 is about as wide as you can go without rub and you need good suspension for that.
