Hey guys just wanted to get some feedback It seems to me that my exhaust pipe runs alittle too close to my alternator (design flaw on toyota's part) on my FJ62. So i was wondering if anyone has ever wired the aux fan (comes on when the car is turned off) to be able to be turned on with a switch so when your offroading you can switch it on and aim that air towards the alternator(maybe with a air duct) to keep it cool. I have gone through two alternators in two years and can't take it any more. Any thoughts?

You using OEM alternators? I wold not see that as an issue with a stock style exhaust. Maybe use heade wrap on the front of the exhaust manifole. Fan is a good idea but I doubt that is kiling your alternators.

Your altertnators are not dieing due to heat.

Possibly due to water and mud immersion if you're doing a lot of wet off road travel, or just plain old bad luck.
