OK, so I'm a total noob. I've never owned a 4x4 before, never been wheeling, nothing. Total offroad virgin here. So I have no frame of reference for anything I'm talking about. That being said, let me add that this was the most fun I've ever had in a 4 wheeled vehicle!

This thing is a BEAST!!! Well, at least it's the biggest beast this noob has ever driven in. I've officially been introduced to the world of 4wheeling and I love it!!!!

I heard that Hungry Valley has a 4wd practice area, so that's where Smurfy McWheels (my FJ) and I started.

(And before I get any helpful comments...yes, I know the running boards have got to go.)

They call this the "Frame Twister" course. It may as well have been a mall parking lot as far as the FJ was concerned:

Smurfy surveys the scene from the top of the practice hill:

The frame twister was a mall parking lot simply because all the obstacles aren't even there. Trust me, if they were, you wouldn't have wanted to even try it.

Glad you had so much fun with your first 4x4. Once you get a chance to take a vehicle off-road, you're hooked.

Welcome to the world of wheeling! Remember no faster then necessary and as slow as possible. Also joining your local TLCA group- these guys are can teach you alot.

I've heard of Hungry Valley but can't place it. Can you give me some directions?

Thanks

5 north, exit Smokey Bear Road. Take a left off the ramp and you'll hit Pyramid Lake Rd. Go to the stop sign, and the entrance is called Hungry Valley road, across the street.

You can go to the Hungry Valley main office on Orwin Road and get a map. Call the phone number on the above referenced website for more info. They're very nice and friendly.

sweet! that's close to home. i'm gonna check it out. i'm a noob too.

anyone interested in congregating at this hungry valley to show me the ropes?
