D Magazine's current issue lists the best BBQ restaurants in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
here is the list of all of them and a map I created: Best BBQ Restaurants Dallas-Ft Worth - Google Maps
My favorite used to be Sonny Bryans, but since Sonny's death several years ago, the place has gone downhill. Way downhill. The original location was still good for awhile, but now even it's brisket tastes like stewed meath with BBQ sauce. So I am glad it didn't make it on the list. Correct me if I am wrong, but the only chain restaurant that made it was Baker's Ribs (albeit a very small chain).
Most of the places on this list I had never heard of. I have been to Angelo's, North Main, Baby Back Shak and Baker's Ribs, but none of the other top 16. Never had even heard of any of the ones in the top 5. The article did give props to my favorite, Clark's Outpost, but it was so far from Dallas and Fort Worth, it was put in a separate category under " BBQ Road Trips". Almost all the top BBQ restaurants seem to be in Tarrant County.
