So I thought I would give Sierra trek a shot. They start at Cisco and do the upper crossing and then winch hills #3, #4, and #5. And then.....entertaiment on top of winch hill #5. Yea:clap:...cause you all know what a party animal I am:banana:. It is now called Rockin into the night:cheers: instead of star trek.

It will be weird wheeling with someone other than my Batle Born Bros. I'll let you know.

P.S. Look to the northeast tonight for the meteor shower

Have fun man. Its good to get out and wheel with other groups. Gives you more options when the rest of your club is ASSIN OUT cuz their rigs arent done, they have house chores to do, matrimonial obligations etc.

I understand totally. I had a great time even tho...well the military has a word for it.. Hmmm cluster****:crybaby:

It was what I was expecting having traveled with large groups like this before

The trail coming down into the river crossing from cisco is really challenging now and eliminated about 3 rigs from the second group. I was in the first group of rigs that included a buggy the trail leaders flattie, a mega axled cruiser and a 2011 jeep rubicon. I actually broke in a little sluice that piched my soft braided line. Since I had a spare I was rolling in about 20 mins but I could have taken longer since we had to wait for the second group that never did show up and finally we went on with out them. Since I broke a line my brakes sucked the rest of the way cause I didn't take time to bleed them. Any hoe did I say that the trail is harder than I have ever seen it? The group that left at six am from the bottom was at the third river crossing at 8:00pm and 9 of those rigs bailed out there.
The trail is 10+ for sure now and runnning the thing in a day is ?able. It was non stop tough obstacles the winch hils just blended into the rest of the mess. If you went on the this run you had to have at least run it before cause there was no spotting and it was every every rig for themself. The Jeep rubicon that was behind me and broke an axle. What a funkey set up that is. But at least you can remove the outer CV and bolt it back to the hub, pull the shaft and stuff a rag in the tube and off you go with the locker on and in 3 wheel drive. Since you have a none drive wheel it isn't very good and the guy wanted to get to meadow where his trailer was he used the skinny pedal to make it with alot of winching and finally a toy mini/buggy towed him since they got tired of waiting for him and he let them use some ether cause they tried to go around us through the bushes and up ledges and one of them popped a bead. These guys were nuts and drinking--so much for treading lightly. I was glad that they towed him which freed me up to just wheel on my own since once we had the rubicon fixed, before #3 winch hill, the trail leader and others mentioned above just took off leaving me to get this guy in. I got him to winch hill #4 and the crazies took over. The winch hills were hard but not much more than the rest of the trail. You REALLY need to have your ducks in a row to run this trail. So Ok I get to #5 winch hill and the food and entertainment was there but it was 2:30 in the morning. The TREK people were cool but when you hook up with those vehicles you really tie yourself to their issues/breaks. The group was 10 jeeps 2 cruisers and 1 buggy. I had fun but it was really hard wheeling. Really busted up my right rocker panel and will be fixing that. Working on the brakes etc. Out of the total rigs that left (13) I think only 7 made it through and they still hadn't come thru a 3:00am so i went off to bed at Meadow Lake.
The crazy thing about it is that I would do it again this weekend if I could. Do I have a sickness?
Can't wait til we do it as a club. Boy Scout Motto--Be Prepared:p

Damnnnn what an interesting weekend.

It sounds like you went above and beyond trying to get the Rubicon through the trail after the trail "leader" took off.

One thing I really like about going with our group is the "Semper Fi" "no man left behind" attitude.

What was weird about that trip is that I left my house at 2:30 friday afternoon and was back at my house by 3:00 the next day. Lots can happen in 24hrs. I was beat even tho I slept in at Meadow.

In fairness to the trail leader he did say that they had sweepers that would be back to help the rubicon guy the next day. But they had no gear since it was all back at meadow lake. Would have been a long night. He used to be a Toy. guy but sold his 4 runner 8 years ago. His wife wanted to get back into it, hence the rubicon. He had beefed the steering and the hubs but hadn't gotten to the axles. Bummer

Ya, we do it right with the whole no man left behind, shouldn't be any other way.

I'm with that no man left behind. It's always interesting to see the dynamics of other wheeling groups. One would think they are pretty much the same, but the little nuances vary a lot it seems.

Yeah, not to mention how some people "deal" with problems on a trail and how they can make them worse.

Thus the reason why I keep dragging my stuff around to trails you guys go on. I've been on several runs in the last year with other groups and they all had issues with either leaving others behind, or running off and leaving me since I was bringing up the tail end.

We did a simple little Jumbo run a few months ago and the trail leader ran off so far with the group of faster rigs, that they were already eating Pizza by the time I made it into town. They wanted to load up about 20 mins after I got into town and continue the run.

The run I went on up to HLT was the same way. The group ran off and left a rig with total nubies behind. I had run tail end sweep all the way till lunch and was tired of it, so I left early with the first group. Lesson learned, I had to go back up the trail and waste another 2 hours to get them down off the trail.

I also agree with some people not knowing how to deal with problems on the trail. Some people take it as an affront to their ego that their rig broke and take it out for the rest of the trail on everyone and everything within their reach, to include their rig and the environment.
