Well, I finally got around to ordering my sliders from Metaltech. :grinpimp: They should go out tomorrow and I guess be here sometime next week. Next month, hope to order the AC dryer skidplate from Slee and either the skidplate from him or the skidplate from Iron Pig. Haven't decide on which I want. I know that there is a big difference between the two in cost and the amount of steel they are made of. Anyone have opinions on either, I would value some input on that.

Thanks,

Jon

My wife was driving our 80 on Deer Valley and destroyed the stock crossmember. IPOR was having a "free shipping" deal at the time, so that is what I have. It is a wicked piece of metal. If something gets damaged with that thing in place, its going to be one heck of a story.

IPOR's is a true skid plate. Slee's is a heavier duty replacement for the stock part and covers about the same.

I had an Iron Pig skid plate on my 73 FJ and it was tough. I did the Rubicon with it and it really did its job. It gave me some peace of mind knowing that it was built so tough and was protecting some of the vital organs.

This week I ordered a skid from Iron Pig for my 81 FJ and it was $295 but shipping was free.

Free shipping? Wonder if that is still good. I will have to call them tomorrow.

Did the 'search' thing and found no bad reviews, but nothing comparing slee vs ipor. But, based on what they look like, it appears that the ipor is much more heavy duty. I like slee's stuff, but gotta pick what I think is best for my truck.

Thanks for the input guys. I will make my decision tomorrow.

Jon
