What do those of you who have used the factory Toyota LJ7x/KZJ7x electric winches think of them? Who makes them? Denso? Aisin? Are they the same as the ones that came on the 80 series of the same years? 8000lb?

My LJ78 did not come with a winch, and I'm investigating my options. I really like the idea of the factory Toyota winch in that it will fit behind the bumper and remain pretty unobtrusive. Should be a fairly easy install if I can get all the parts too...

Anyone have a dead Prado with a factory winch they want to sell? :D I'm actually considering buying a Prado with a winch (for sale near me right now), swapping bumpers and winch with my Prado, and then reselling the now winch-less Prado, haha!

How many have you seen with the factory winch? Mine had the cutout in the bumper however did not have a winch.

Seems like a decent percentage that came to Canada have them. There are a few LJ owners on these forums that have the winches. The truck I'm referring to for sale with one is here: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/nvn/cto/3248368594.html Most folks that buy these trucks in my area won't care much if there is a winch or not, as most won't be using it. I could probably buy this vehicle, remove the winch and swap bumpers, and re-sell it for the same price I bought it for.

Seems like a win-win situation plus having multiple Prado's in your yard will increase the value of your house. :D

Just hang a 2L-TE from a tree limb in your front yard. Neighbors love that stuff. :D

Toyota's with factory electric winch are made by AISIN. They are good units provided taken care off...on par with WARN.

Thanks a lot.

I ended up buying a used aftermarket winch in good shape. I got a good price on it, so that made the decision for me. As much as I would have liked the factory one, they are just too hard to get without a vehicle attached.
