Through the years, my 2009 200 Series steering wheel has accumulated quite a few nicks and chips, both to the leather, and the wood itself. In an effort to "refresh" the wheel, tried my hardest to see if I could source a new old stock steering wheel with the exact wood trim.
Turns out, my unit, a Dubai unit exported to SEA where I'm based, came complete with an individual dealer wood package option, meaning that there was no hope in finding a replacement that matched the wood trim exactly. Instead, I chose to purchase some wood vinyl wrap for the other wood trim parts found in the car, and to take a gamble on a used, AHN20 Toyota Alphard Steering Wheel, complete with wood trim!
Lo and behold it's compatible! Funnily enough, the buttons WOULD work, if not for the fact that my aftermarket head unit is too old to support the buttons...looks like that is the next upgrade!
Extremely pleased with how it turned out given that there was little to no information on whether this swap would work online. All I had to go on was the fact that:
- 2016+ wheels fit on the earlier LC200 models
- 2016+ wheels are the same as 2017+ LC150 Prados
- LC150 Prado steering wheels are supposedly compatible with AHN20 Alphards
